I just received an estimate of $365 to replace the passenger rear seat belt retractor. $145 for the part and 2 hours labor. OUCH!!!! Still waiting for a DIY video as I just paid $350 to fix the front driver seat which was stuck in the recline position. WebJan 5, 2009 · E36 320i. Had the same problem. The root cause was the webbing guide had slipped out of position and got stuck in the retractor. Fixed it by removing the rear backrest and parcel shelf, then prying the webbing guide out of the retractor and back into place. Hope it is as simple for you guys.
